Ian Kilgour was appointed President and CEO of Compañía Minera Antamina on January 1st, 2007, after having joined Antamina in 2006 as Vice President Operations.

Ian Kilgour is Australian. He is a metallurgical engineer graduated from the University of Melbourne with a master degree in Science at the Royal School of Mines in London. Before joining Antamina, Ian worked for BHP Billiton Australia as General Manager of Business Improvement and Optimization of the BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) coal operations and previously as General Manager of the Goonyella - Riverside coal mine.  As for his activities in Latin America, Ian was the Concentrator and Mine Manager of Minera Escondida in Antofagasta, Chile.

His ample experience of more than 30 years in the mining industry has led Ian to various operations around the world, such as Africa, Australia, Chile, Papua New Guinea, holding different managerial positions.
