Paulo Guedes

Mr. Guedes is the founder and majority partner of BR Investimentos a financial group in Brazil. He is a well known Brazilian economist,
with a PhD from Chicago and a distinguished career both in the Brazilian financial market as well as in the Brazilian education sector.
Mr. Guedes was one of the four founders of Banco Pactual, which became the largest Brazilian investment bank and was acquired in 2005
by UBS.
Mr. Guedes was the CEO and majority shareholder of IBMEC, one of Brazil’s leading business schools, which became a landmark in business education in Brazil. IBMEC pioneered executive MBAs in Brazil and became well known for the innovations it introduced in the Brazilian educational sector. Also, for the last two years Mr. Guedes has been acting as an advisor to several Brazilian educational companies.
One of the focus of BR Investimentos is the educational sector. The company is raising a private equity fund, named BR Educacional, in order to pursue investments in this sector.
Mr. Guedes writes a weekly article for the newspaper O Globo, an influential newspaper in Brazil, and also a biweekly article for the magazine Época, also an important weekly magazine in Brazil.
