Mr. Sada is the Chairman of the Board of Vitro (BMV: VITROA; NYSE: VTO), one of the largest glass manufacturers in the world. Headquartered in Monterrey, Mexico where it was founded in 1909 by the Sada Family. The company’s facilities produce, process, distribute and sell a wide range of glass products that offer solutions to multiple industries that include: wine, beer, cosmetic, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, as well as the automotive and construction industry. It embarks major facilities and a broad distribution network in nine countries in the Americas and Europe. Additionally, it exports its products to over 40 countries around the world.
He was born in November 1944 in Monterrey, Mexico. And holds a M.B.A. degree from both, the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Statyclyde, a B.S. in Business Administration from Georgetown University and attended the Harvard’s Advanced Management Program.
Mr. Sada began his business career in 1970 at Banpaís (a Mexican banking institution). From 1976 to 1982, he was its Chief Executive Officer.
From 1984 to 1992, he was Chairman of the Regional Board of Operadora de Bolsa, S.A. and from 1985 to 1989 was Chairman of the Board of Seguros del País, S.A. From 1992 to July 1999 he was also Chairman of the Board of Grupo Financiero Serfin.
In 1985, Mr. Sada was designated Vice Chairman of the Board of Vitro and four years later, in 1989, was named Chairman of the Board.
He is a committed and strong promoter of Nature Conservation through OVIS (Organización Vida Silvestre A.C.) which he co-founded in 1996. Its mission is to create scientific research programs for the conservation and the management of ecosystems, as well as to promote the sustainable development through projects of environmental education and communitarian improvement.
Mr. Sada is married to Esther Cueva and has 1 son and 4 grandchildren.
