Luis Felipe Derteano Marie is currently President of Grupo ACP. Grupo ACP was founded in 1969 under the name Acción Comunitaria del Perú, as a Peruvian non-profit organization focused on solving the educational, business, financing and insurance needs of low-income households and micro and small business entrepreneurs in Perú.  Grupo ACP is developing a range of complementary activities that provide entrepreneurs in small and micro businesses and emerging segments with the tools and access ways they need to successfully overcome their social and economic exclusions.

In the last few years, Grupo ACP has acquired a regional presence in the Latin American financial market, through investments in microfinance institutions in Bolivia, Mexico and Uruguay.

Mr Derteano is an associate partner with vast experience in the areas of social programs, education and financial services for micro and small business entrepreneurs. In 1998, he led the technical team responsible for organizing Grupo ACP’s Peruvian microfinance bank, Mibanco, and structuring its financial products, processes and services. Mibanco has meanwhile become the leading microfinance institution in Peru. During Mibanco’s formative years Mr Derteano held the position of Director, and in 2000 he was appointed Vice Chairman of the Board. 

Mr Derteano is also a member of the Board of other important microfinance institutions in Latin America: Forjadores in Mexico, Bancosol in Bolivia and Banco Solidario in Ecuador, all leading institutions in providing quality financial services for micro and small business entrepreneurs.

As President of Grupo ACP, besides being one of the 15 members of the Board of Governors, he is a member of the Board of several of the private companies that conform the ACP Group.

Mr Derteano started his banking career with Banco Continental in 1975. He gained extensive experience in international business at the Swiss Bank Corporation, in Geneva, Switzerland.  In 1979, he returned to Perú to work in a variety of managing positions in Banco de Crédito del Perú for 15 years.

Mr Derteano holds a master degree in Agricultural Economics from Universidad Católica de Chile.
